St. John’s Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine Center offers a comprehensive program of treatment and support services for the cost-effective management of acute and chronic problem wound. We offer a multi-specialty team led by Dr. Joseph A. Newman, MD featuring the only National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology certified technicians in the Joplin area. Dr. Newman is the only physician board-certified in Hyperbaric Medicine in Joplin as well.
For most people, wound healing is a natural, uneventful process. For some individuals, however, it becomes a complex medical problem requiring specialized treatment and care. Problem wounds are often associated with other medical conditions. Our program is specifically designed to integrate wound care with ongoing healthcare.
Some factors that affect the entire body and are not confined to just the wound site include:
- Age
- Bodybuild
- Ongoing or chronic disease, such as diabetes or cancer
- Inadequate daily nutrition
- Poor circulation or vascular disease
- Compromised immune systems due to disease or medication
- Radiation therapy
We coordinate wound treatment plans with the patient’s primary care and specialty physicians to ensure that each patient’s individual needs are met.
